The Music Settlement has flexible openings for Early Childhood Classroom Substitute Teachers. Established in 1955, TMS has earned a reputation for excellence in early childhood education and is recognized as one of the outstanding preschool programs in Northeast Ohio. The program has a strong emphasis on the arts, literacy, and science.
University Circle and Ohio City campuses
- ·Facilitate activities, implement class routines, supervise the classroom, and engage children ages 3–5 in accordance with the plans designed by the lead teacher and the philosophies and policies of The Music Settlement, Step Up to Quality, Universal PreKindergarten, and Ohio Licensing regulations
- ·Maintain a classroom environment that is developmentally appropriate and encourages exploration and experimentation
- ·Engage children in learning activities using a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets Ohio State Standards for early childhood
- ·Supervise and monitor the safety, activity, and behavior of children through observation and interaction
- ·Establish positive relationships with children, classroom teachers, and EC staff
- ·Facilitate child-centered guidance management with positive intent for each child as an individual
- ·Assist in classroom preparation and clean up
- ·Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred; two years of college coursework required
- ·Daycare, preschool, camp, or other group experience with children
- ·Effective verbal and written communication skills
$17–$19 per hour depending on experience, education, and expertise.
