The Director of Development supports the highest strategic priorities of the theatre and serves as a member of the leadership team, focusing on development and fundraising through grants to major local foundations and through the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of prospects and individual donors for planned and major gifts.
- ·Plan, implement, and measure a development and fundraising program for Karamu's short and long-term needs, including campaign management
- ·Identify, research, cultivate, and steward individual donor prospects for planned and major gifts
- ·Develop and administer a reporting system for identifying prospects and tracking cultivation and gift closure
- ·Maintain oversight of the agency's donor database and stratify historical donor data
- ·Work with CEO and board to strategize annual giving and cultivation events
- ·Develop and implement a corporate sponsorship campaign
- ·Collaborate with artistic, education, and programming teams to ensure accurate interpretation of organizational vision
- ·Work closely with the President and CEO, Board members, and leadership staff to achieve goals
- ·Lead staff, vendors, consultants, and volunteers toward annual and long-range goals
- ·Develop community ties and serve on committees to further the profile of arts in the city and state
- ·Collaborate with the Director of Marketing on organizational strategy and fundraising efforts
- ·Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, trustees, patrons, volunteers, and staff
- ·Experienced manager and team builder
- ·Excellent oral and written communication skills
- ·Computer and internet proficiency, including experience with donor databases
- ·Strategic and analytical skills
- ·Genuine interest in and knowledge of theatre and performing arts
- ·Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task
