Sidney Bruhl hasn't written a hit play in 18 years when he receives a guaranteed-success script from former student Clifford Anderson. His wife Myra suggests the two collaborate; Sidney jokes it would be just as easy to murder Clifford and steal the script. When Clifford arrives that evening, no one — not even the visiting psychic — can predict where the night's dark events will go.

Any age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, body type, ability, or other identity is encouraged to audition and will be considered equally, unless directly specified by the playwright as integral to the story. No roles are precast unless otherwise stated.

• ·CLIFFORD ANDERSON (male presenting, 20s–30s) — Attractive, talented young writer. Clever, can slip on fronts of innocence masking darker ambitions.
• ·MYRA BRUHL (female presenting, mid-40s–60s) — Sidney's loving, supportive wife. Calming presence, but firm when needed.
• ·HELGA TEN DORP (female presenting, 30+, Dutch accent encouraged but not required) — Celebrity psychic, free-spirited and not easily intimidated.
• ·PORTER MILGRIM (male presenting, 30+) — Sidney's friend and attorney. Sharp, observant, distrustful of Clifford.
