- ·THE BALLADEER (Tenor, C3–G4; male presenting, mid 20s to mid 30s; guitar a plus) — The embodiment of the American Dream and a foil to the Assassins, who is eventually corrupted and becomes Lee Harvey Oswald. Must handle dramatic scenes with John Wilkes Booth.
- ·LEE HARVEY OSWALD (see Balladeer) — A depressed man destroyed by mediocrity who, after a conversation with John Wilkes Booth, decides to make a statement by assassinating John F. Kennedy.
- ·THE PROPRIETOR (Tenor, G♭2–F4; male presenting, 30s or older) — A devilish embodiment of the American reality and mastermind of chaos who leads with ultimate indifference.
- ·JOHN WILKES BOOTH (Baritone, F2–G4; male presenting, 20–30) — A dignified gentleman and the "pioneer" of American assassinations, masking his hatred with a flair for theatrics. Southern dialect preferred.
- ·LEON CZOLGOSZ, pronounced "CHOL-gash" (Bass Baritone, G♯2–G4; male presenting, mid 20s to mid 30s; slight build) — An anarchist who killed William McKinley to take a stand for the common worker.
- ·GIUSEPPE ZANGARA (Tenor, B2–A4; male presenting, 30–40; MUST use a heavy Italian accent) — An anti-capitalist who tried to assassinate Franklin D. Roosevelt but killed Mayor Cermak.
- ·LYNETTE "SQUEAKY" FROMME (Mezzo, A3–G5; female presenting, 20s–30s) — A flower child and Manson "family" member who attempted to assassinate Gerald Ford. The manic foil to Sara Jane Moore.
- ·SARA JANE MOORE (Soprano, F3–E♭5; female presenting, 40–50) — A scatterbrained former FBI informant who tried to assassinate Gerald Ford. Comedic relief who constantly loses control of the situation.
- ·JOHN HINCKLEY (Baritone, A2–G4; male presenting, early 20s–30s; guitar a plus) — A shy, anxious, antisocial man whose obsession with Jodie Foster fueled his attempt on Ronald Reagan.
- ·CHARLES J. GUITEAU (Tenor, A2–A♭4; male presenting, 30s–50s) — An opportunist charlatan who assassinated James A. Garfield after his dream of being Ambassador to France was shattered. Dramatic, fun, and able to command an audience.
- ·SAMUEL BYCK (male presenting, 30s–50s) — A down-beaten, disillusioned blue collar man who planned to hijack a plane and fly it into the White House to kill Richard Nixon. Choose the excerpt that fits your range (tenor, baritone, or bass baritone).
- ·ENSEMBLE (any age 18+, any gender) — The workers who keep American limbo going, taking on different archetypes and characters throughout the show.
